This is Carl’s newest baby…. a 1 x 12, 15 watt Class A combo that will shake the very stage you set up on. The simplified controls include Volume, Bass and Treble with a Bright switch thrown in for ultimate control of your tone. One of the very special features on Carl’s new amp is the Reverb…. it has been wired in a way that allows the guitar player to use Reverb with his sound just like any other amp; adjusting it with the Reverb Volume and Reverb Tone, or as a stand alone Reverb unit….just like those famous Reverb boxes from years back.   The amp takes advantage of Accutronic’s larger reverb tank and Celestion’s Vintage 30 speaker, plus matched El 84 power tubes to produce your favourite Vintage tone! From an articulate clean to a thick, crunchy over-driven tone when cranked up, The Bandmate 15 Combo is an affordable and compact answer for rehearsals and small venue gigs. Hot Drive'N Boost                                                   CHF 234.00
                                                                                             VP CHF 260.00

Carl Martin Hot Drive´n Boost has been carefully designed to imitate the sound of a good old-fashioned distorting Tube-Amp.
The Hot Drive´n Boost is the perfect choice for that crunchy blues tone, with plenty left over for a great hard rock tone as well.
With the BOOST feature the Hot Drive´n Boost is a “TWO IN ONE” pedal. That allows you to get that extra “kick” (up to 20db) for solos to really stand out.

The anniversary Hot Drive’n Boost MK3, featuring a complete new overdrive design that gives a even more authentic “tube” simulating overdrive than the original HDB, which is know to be one of the best.
The new HDB MK3 sound like a tweaked up quality tube amp, and on contrary nearly every other overdrive pedal does it not change the original tone, has no midrange pronouncement, no low end cut of, no high end cut of, all that gives a tone of a clear brilliant tube drive of it’s own.
With the BOOST feature the Hot Drive’n Boost MK3 is a “TWO IN ONE” pedal. That allows you to get that extra “kick” (up to 20db) for solos to really stand out.
The Hot Drive’n Boost MK3 has a built in regulated (+-12V) power supply. This enables us to design circuitry of the highest quality with maximum headroom.

Carl Martin 3-Band Parametric Preamp
3-Band Parametric Preamp                                      CHF 298.00
                                                                                             VP CHF 330.00

Carl Martin 3 Band Parametric Pre-Amp has been specially developed for musicians who play ACOUSTIC GUITAR, VIOLIN, ACCORDION, DOUBLE BASS, etc.
These musicians often use combo amps and do not find the use of 19″ rack equipment very practical. Experience has shown us that these instruments often require a high quality EQ and balanced line driver. We have integrated those features into a handy stomp box format.
For maximum flexibility, we found it necessary to create a high quality 3 band semi-parametric EQ.
Carl Martin 3 Band Parametric Pre-Amp works equally well for tweaking the sound of electric guitars, basses and other electronic instruments as well as for direct studio recordings.
The 3 Band Parametric Pre-Amp has a built in regulated (+-12V) power supply which enables us to design circuitry of the highest quality with maximum headroom.

Carl Martin Compressor Limiter
Compressor Limiter                                                CHF 298.00
                                                                                             VP CHF 330.00

Carl Martin Compressor-Limiter has been specially developed to incorporate the same features and sonic clarity found in high quality professional studio compressors. To achieve this we incorporated a variable threshold, -variable compression ratio, -variable attack and release controls and of course, a gain level.
General Guidelines on the use of the Compressor/Limiter:
Threshold: Working anti clockwise, determines how much of the signal will be compressed. This is also dependent on how much signal is fed from the instrument.
Comp: Working clockwise, determines how much compression is applied to the signal allowed by the threshold setting.
Resp: Working clockwise, determines the attack/release times, going from slow to fast. In general, if you want to hear the compressor working with a crisp attack you should use slow times. If you require just a silent limiting you should use fast times.
Gain: Working clockwise, sets the overall gain.Busy: Indicates the amount of compression being applied, even in bypass mode. The brighter it gets, the more compression is being applied. You can find more detailed information under manuals.

Carl Martin Chorus x II

                                                                                            VP CHF 260.00

Carl Martin Contour’n Boost is especially designed to boost up, and change the sound (contour) of electric guitar/bass.
The Contour’n Boost circuitry is of phase linear design, using high quality components. This ensures sonic clarity and midrange emphasis which is so important for electric guitar.
The Contour’n Boost is designed as a High Pass (low cut) and Low Pass (high cut) filter, with a fixed X-over frequency at 440Hz. The High Pass filter operates from 65Hz to 440Hz, and the Low Pass filter from 440Hz to 8kHz. Both filters are individually sweepable, with a boost range of up to 12dB. With these two filters it is possible to change the sound (contour) in any way your creativity allows you.
The Carl Martin Contour’n Boost has a built in, regulated (+-12V) power supply which enables us to design circuitry of the highest quality with maximum headroom.
Please note that when using this unit with other effect devices, always place the Contour’n Boost after any distortion units, otherwise the distortion unit will limit what you can achieve with the Contour’n Boost.

Carl Martin DeLayla
DeLayla                                                                CHF 298.00
                                                                                           VP CHF 355.00

The Carl Martin DeLayla was designed and developed with one goal in mind: To create a superior analogue delay pedal, incorporating some of the same features used in vintage tape delay units. To achieve this, we have incorporated a second delay tap (similar to using two heads simultaneously on a tape delay).
The TAP footswitch is used to turn the second tap on or off.
The TAP knob controls the mix of main delay vs. second tap delay.
Clockwise movement favours the second tap; counter clockwise favours the main delay.
The result is a warm, smooth sound reminiscent of the vintage tape units used in the 50’s and 60’s.
The DeLayla is able to capture one of the hardest sounds: that authentic rock ‘n roll slapback echo that digital processors are unable to emulate.
The unit also features a built in regulated (+-12V) power supply.

Carl Martin DeLayla XL
DeLayla  XL                                                           CHF 298.00
                                                                                           VP CHF 399.00

The Carl Martin DeLayla XL is designed and developed with one goal in mind: To create a superior echo pedal, with the same sonic quality as the original DeLayla but with new extended features, yet incorporating some of the same features used in vintage tape delay units.
To achieve this, we have incorporated a second delay head (slapback) (similar to using two heads simultaneously on a tape delay).
The SLAPBACK footswitch is used to turn the second delay head on or off.
The SLAPBACK knob controls the mix of main delay vs. second delay head. Clockwise movement favors the second delay head; Counter clockwise favors the main delay.
The SB-TRIM knob fine tune the second delay head’s time setting compared to the original delay head, by this it’s possible to create different delay patterns, going from strict slapback to way offbeat. The TEMPO tap is a real time tempo learn function, allowing you to foot tap the delay time to match the exact beat of the song.
The Carl Martin DeLayla XL also features a built in regulated power supply.
The result is a warm, smooth sound reminiscent of the vintage tape units used in the 50’s and 60’s, combined with modern features.
The Carl Martin DeLayla XL is able to capture one of the hardest sounds: That authentic rock’n roll slapback echo, that digital processors are unable to emulate.

Carl Martin Andy Timmons Compressor Limiter
Andy Timmons Compressor/Limiter                            CHF a.A.
                                                                                                VP CHF a.A.

The Carl Martin Andy Timmons Signature Compressor/Limiter! Just like the Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter, we believe this unit to be the most musically useful guitar dynamics processor on the market. The Carl Martin Andy Timmons Signature Compressor/Limiter has been developed in corporation with Andy Timmons to create a user-friendly yet versatile compressor/limiter with its two presets.

Andy Timmons, long-time user and fan of the Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter, suggested to Carl to create a Compressor/Limiter with two presets, so that he had a preset for more subtle rhythm parts, and a preset with more hard compression and sustain for other parts as solos without having to take up real-estate on the board for two Compressor/Limiters.
The result is a two-preset option for Compression Rate and Level. In order to save knobs and to be as user-friendly as possible, the Threshold and Response settings are fixed for both presets, leaving the pedal with only six knobs, the Threshold and Response being 6mm miniature knobs.
As a useful extra feature we incorporated a ¼” jack for remote switching the presets (Latching).

As something new, the Carl Martin Andy Timmons Signature Compressor/Limiter incorporates the newly developed DC/DC converter circuitry. This enables us to run the pedal with +-12V internally, which is necessary in order to maintain the same sonic quality and headroom as on the “old” Compressor/Limiter using a regular 9V DC 200mA power supply.

The Carl Martin Andy Timmons Signature Compressor/Limiter has been developed to incorporate the same features, sonic clarity, quietness, and performance of the best studio compressor/limiters. Spend a little time with us here in the manual and you can learn some of the basics of compression and limiting, and how to get the most out of your pedal.

As with all the Danish built Carl Martin effects, the Echotone comes in our low-profile housing, coated in our new stunning off-white colour, with the built-in 12v (+-) regulated power supply.

Carl Martin Single Channel PlexiTone
Single Channel PlexiTone                                       CHF 199.00
                                                                                           VP CHF 225.00

The new `single channel` Carl Martin PlexiTone was designed in association with Pete Thorn, and is housed in a small pedal-board friendly housing with 3 knobs and 1 switch. Apart from Pete’s slight modifications that give this new pedal a tighter bottom-end and slightly softer high frequencies, it is exactly the same gain structure as the High Gain setting on the original Pro-Series PlexiTone….it just plays better with different amps. The single Plexi also incorporates our new DC-DC converter circuitry, so the pedal can be powered by a regulated 9V Power Supply but will still operate on the same +-12V level as the original AC powered PlexiTone. This allows us to use the same high quality components which provide the same tone and headroom that make the CM Pro-Series stand out from the rest!

Carl Martin Single Channel AC-Tone
Single Channel AC-Tone                                        CHF 199.00
                                                                                           VP CHF 225.00

The new `single channel` AC-Tone, is a smaller pedal-board friendly, single channel version of the original Pro-Series AC-Tone. It features 3 knobs and 1 switch and has a slightly beefed up Gain section, but shares the very same tone as its big sister!
The single AC-Tone also incorporates our new DC-DC converter circuitry, so the pedal can be powered by a regulated 9V Power Supply but will still operate on the same +-12V level as the original AC powered AC-Tone. This allows us to use the same high quality components which provide the same tone and headroom that make the CM Pro-Series pedals stand out from the rest!

Carl Martin 2Wah
2Wah                                                                    CHF 199.00
                                                                                           VP CHF 225.00

Have you ever wanted two distinctly different vintage ‘wah’ sounds at your feet?   Perhaps you wished for a brighter wah for rhythm work and a deeper, darker wah for leads; and the ability to switch back and forth quickly?  Well, Carl Martin has been busy creating your wish; the 2Wah.  This familiar looking, retro-styled pedal, has an all-metal casing with a non-slip foot pad.  It can be powered by 9v battery, but we always recommend using a regulated power supply (like the Carl Martin Big John Power Supply) for maximum headroom and effect. Input is on the right and output on the left (remember your Wah should be the first pedal in your chain), and the standard effect on-off by stepping on the front of the rocker to engage the true bypass on-off switch.  There are two three-way mode switches on the front of the 2Wah marked Low (red LED) and High (green LED).  These are connected to an on-off switch at the back of the pedal (step on back of rocker to engage this switch).  The three low and the three high settings are recreations of six of the most popular vintage wah sounds since the beginning of wah.  The Attack knob allows you to fine-tune exactly how you want the rocker to modulate your guitar signal. Six different wah sounds, from Hendrix to Trower to Earth Wind & Fire and beyond, all in one pedal. So why didn’t we call it the 6 Wah?  Well you would have to ask Carl……

Carl Martin Surf Trem
Surf Trem                                                              CHF 118.00
                                                                                           VP CHF 130.00

Remember the great tremolo tones of the 50’s and 60’s? The ‘Surf Trem’ gets its’ trem circuit from the CM Tremovibe. With just a ‘speed’ and ‘depth’ control (just like our old tube amp) those classic tones are easy to achieve. The retro heavy diecast case with 9 volt battery compartment, cool colour and heavy duty bypass switch, make the ‘Surf Trem’ a must have in every pedal box.

Carl Martin Red Repeat

                                                                                           VP CHF 155.00

Based on the infamous Carl Martin Delayla, the ‘Red Repeat’ provides an affordable 600 milliseconds of delay as well as a simply controlled echo. Add just a touch of delay to thicken your sound, or push the repeat circuit past 12o’clock where the unit begins to self-oscillate, just like an old analog delay. Great vintage style and colour in a heavy diecast, 9 volt pedal with heavy duty bypass switching.

Carl Martin Classic Chorus
Classic Chorus                                                       CHF 138.00
                                                                                           VP CHF 155.00

The Classic Chorus by Carl Martin, is not just another chorus pedal.  Yes it can be powered by either a 9V battery or a regulated 9V power supply; yes it has the solid diecast housing with the cool off-white chicken-head knobs and the cool CM graphics; yes it has that great CM quality bypass switching, and the LED’s to indicate operation; and yes when you plug into this pedal, you will get a chorus effect…..but….there is so much more!  Carl spent a year researching and developing  this pedal for the vintage guitar nut in all of us. Plug into the Classic Chorus, step on the Bypass switch to turn the effect on, adjust the speed and depth knobs to obtain your favorite chorus effect and then bring up the level to show off just how good you sound.  You will be amazed at how this pedal takes you back to the ‘day’ with it’s full, round, vintage chorus sound.  Now hang on to your hat and step on the Vibrato switch.  By adjusting the Rate knob clockwise you change your sound from Chorus to Vibrato with the full Vibrato effect achieved with the Rate and Depth knobs turned completely clockwise. (The Speed Depth and Level knobs are universal for both Chorus and Vibrato.)   You will notice a distinct drop in your highs, but Carl says this is intentional….it will keep your sound warmer and rounder, plus, when you use this effect with Distortion/Overdrives it won’t fizz out or die, you will just get that massive overdriven chorus/vibrato effect that you always dreamed of.

Carl Martin Dual Injection
Dual Injection                                                         CHF 135.00
                                                                                             VP CHF 150.00

As guitar players, we all have that moment where we think, ‘How can I do this and still remain analogue?’ Once we have achieved the ‘ultimate tone, how can we boost that same tone without changing the quality? What if we want to boost the signal before your drive effect in order to increase sustain, or have a boost in front of your gain channel and another after the pre-amp in the effects loop? Well, Carl thought about this for quite a while and is now happy to introduce the super cool….’Dual Injenction’! Carl took the high quality, transparent boost from the Hot Drive’n Boost, and put two of them into one pedal. Each has it’s own level control and ‘True Bypass’ switch, plus there is another toggle which switches the Dual Injection between Serial and Parallel modes. In Serial mode, you use the Input/Output 1 on the back of the pedal and place the boost wherever you want in the signal chain. In Parallel mode, connect the Output 1 before your Drive or Preamp, and then use the Input/Output 2 on the side of the pedal to connect to your effects loop on the amp.

So, what does all this do for you? Well, the Dual Injenction gives you 4 different Boost settings…

1) Your normal set up either clean or with effects

2) Boost 1 engaged to a desired setting

3) Boost 2 engaged to a different setting than Boost 1

4) Both Boost 1 and Boost 2 engaged at the same time!

The Dual Injection is a high quality effect that can be powered by 9v battery or with the correct power transformer (we always recommend that you use a regulated power supply like the Carl Martin Pro Power). The effect is housed in our diecast case with custom paint, True Bypass Switching, large easy to use knobs and bright LED indicators for Boost 1 or 2.

Carl Martin DC-Drive

What Vintage series would be complete without an ultra-versatile and simple to use drive pedal?  Funny, that’s what Carl said just before he introduced the DC-Drive.  Just like Carl, this pedal has a few tricks up its sleeve.  Besides the typical Level, Tone and Drive knobs which obviously control the volume of the signal, the tone (hmmm, which knob?) and the amount of overdrive, Carl has smartly added a clean boost after the drive section, and a Regular/Fat switch….not so typical.  In Regular mode, the drive is crisp and clear, suitable for anything that calls for old-school drive….switch over to Fat and the drive gets thicker with a lot more gain, much more modern. Anyone who knows the Carl Martin line is familiar with his Clean Boost….a bump-up in signal volume that can be used either with your clean or overdriven sounds.  The result is a multi-use pedal that allows you to have a variety of rhythm and solo volumes at your feet. Like the rest of the Vintage line, the DC-drive comes in that cool retro diecast housing with the equally cool chicken-head knobs and CM graphics.  The pedal can be powered by 9v battery but we recommend a regulated power supply like the Carl Martin ProPower.

Carl Martin Classic Flange

Carl Martin is doing a groovy thing out there man…. Introducing the Vintage Flanger; designed for those guitarists who desire this unique form of modulation. The Vintage Flanger has four knobs to control Speed, Depth, Pre-delay and Feedback, plus a dual speed mode that is foot-switchable. There are no rules with a Flanger, just plug this versatile modulation pedal in and play play play. As with all the Vintage pedals, the Flanger comes in a solid, diecast housing with the cool CM graphics and chicken-head knobs. It can be powered by 9v battery or a (recommended) regulated 9v power supply like the CM ProPower.

Carl Martin Classic Optical Compressor
Classic Optical Compressor                                      CHF 138.00
                                                                                              VP CHF 155.00

One day while Carl was adding some compression to a guitar track in his studio, he thought, why hasn’t anyone built a small opto-compressor for guitarists?  An optical compressor performs gain reduction control via a light source into a photo sensitive cell… as the light source gets brighter, the photo sensitive cell sends a signal to reduce dynamic range, or what becomes a compressed signal.  Welcome to the Classic Optical Compressor….an old-school compressor from the days where colouring was an important factor to the sound.  The four controls (from left to right) are the Gain, which controls the ‘pre-glow’ of the optical circuit (the more you turn this up, the fatter the sound); Level, which controls the overall volume of the compressor; Compression, which controls how hard or soft the compression is, and the Attack control which takes the signal from transparent to outright total squeeze.  A short time with this compressor will allow you to find some of those classic guitar sounds which may somehow have escaped you before.  Again, like all the Vintage pedals, the Classic Optical Compressor comes in a solid diecast housing with cool chicken-head knobs, CM colour and graphics and a 9v battery compartment.  Due to the nature of compressors, we highly recommend a regulated power supply (like the CM ProPower) or a large stock of batteries…..

Carl Martin Classic Optical Envelope
Classic Optical Envelope                                           CHF 153.00
                                                                                               VP CHF 170.00

Carl got a call from an old guitar playing friend who said he didn’t want to use his wah all the time, but wanted to have some of those effects available.  Enter the Classic Optical Envelope….essentially a classic envelope filter (auto-wah utilizing the same opto-technology as the Opto-compressor) for guitar or bass, with a bunch of cool options.  The first footswitch is for fx on/off (buffered), and the second to select between the three modes (High Pass, Band Pass and Low Pass).  Add to this the Level control for overall volume, Drive for how hard the auto-wah will function, Q for adjusting the size of the bandwidth, and Tone which acts as a separate Hi-pass filter, and you have complete control over your fx…from vocal like tones to funky quacks and fat wows!  Housed in the cool new diecast housing with mini-knobs and cool retro colour, the Classic Optical Envelope can be powered by a 9v battery, but we always recommend a regulated power supply for optimum response!

Carl Martin Blue Ranger
Blue Ranger                                                             CHF 138.00
                                                                                               VP CHF 150.00

While staring at Stevie Ray’s statue in Austin, Carl decided to add a Texas style overdrive to the Vintage lineup.  Equally suited to single coils or humbuckers and with a True Bypass Switch, the Blue Ranger also incorporates a ‘dual-clip’ circuit to keep the sound un-muffled and clear at all levels.  The overly simple controls (Level for overall volume, Gain for the amount of overdrive, and Tone for fine tuning your sound) quickly take you from big open Hendrix-y chords to saturated SRV type leads, and beyond!  The Blue Ranger will actually cross the border into Fuzz with the Gain full out.  Housed in the cool new diecast housing with mini-knobs and cool retro colour, Blue Ranger can be powered by a 9v battery, but we always recommend a regulated power supply for optimum response!

Carl regularly spends some of his spare time listening to his old records from the 60’s and 70’s.  More often than not, he will find a record or artist that will inspire him to create a new pedal. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 records or artists to fully develop an idea!  Now, think back to Jimi Hendrix and the Band of Gypsies, Robin Trower’s  Bridge of Sighs, or almost anything by David Gilmour, and then open your creative mind to the Purple Moon!  It has taken a couple years on the bench for Carl to be satisfied because it has been developed with very creative guitarists in mind.  The Purple Moon is the only True Bypass, all analog, dual speed Vibe with Fuzz, and it is your ticket to recreating the same classic guitar sounds  that inspired Carl. Like the rest of the pedals in the Vintage Series, the Purple Moon features a die-cast case with it’s own special colour, mini knobs for ease of use, high quality switching, bright visible LED’s and a choice of 9V battery power, or suitable transformer (we recommend using a quality regulated power supply for maximum response).

The new Classic Series high gain overdrive TOD, was originally designed as the Limited Edition Dizzy Drive….a project which celebrated the reunion tour of top Danish touring act Dizzy Mizz Lizzy. When the band was originally peaking in the early 80`s, guitarist Tim Christensen was using a Boss Turbo Overdrive into his Marshall Stack, so the plan was to create an updated and improved version of Tim’s original sound. He required the same tonal quality but `phatter` and with more headroom. There were only 500 original Dizzy Drives built which sold out very quickly in Denmark and Japan, so it seemed only right that we re-release the pedal in Classic Yellow. As Carl said….`it would have been a shame to not make this pedal available to everyone! The new Classic Series TOD, is small, pedal-board friendly, and housed in a die-cast case with 4 knobs and one switch.

Headroom                                                               CHF 290.00
                                                                                              VP CHF 340.00

The Carl Martin Headroom is the most simple to operate reverb pedal on the market…with a couple extras. This purely analogue ‘real spring’ reverb has two identical identical channels, each with tone and level controls to select the depth and tone of your reverb. This allows you to have a soft, small room reverb on Channel A and a much more dramatic and dark large-room reverb on Channel B (or vise versa) The two foot-controlled switches control which channel you are in, and whether you wish to bypass the effect completely. It is like having two separate reverbs in your amp!

Additional features on the Carl Martin Headroom include solid metal casing, cool vintage chicken head knobs, double mounted springs to minimize stage feedback, and remote jacks for Bypass and Channel Select (which allows you to place the effect in your rack or in the back of your amp to save real-estate on your pedal-board), as well as your input and output jacks. Of course you also get that famous Carl Martin quality that you have come to expect….at no extra charge. The Carl Martin Headroom runs on 9V DC, and as always, we recommend using a regulated power supply for optimum performance.

Bass Series

Bass Chorus                                                             CHF 290.00
                                                                                               VP CHF 340.00

The Bass Chorus is the first in Carl Martin’s new line of bass effects. Although similar in function to the older Chorus XII, it is housed in the new wider/lower metal housing with ‘chicken-head knobs’ for adjustment. Of course, the quality remains the same, and the new housing also encloses the regulated +/-12V power supply for maximum headroom and clarity.
So why design a special chorus just for bass? Most chorus effects in the marketplace are designed for guitar use and therefore are mid-range heavy. The Bass Chorus has been extensively fine-tuned so that the full effect of the chorus is evident as far down as low B.
Like its’ predecessor, the Bass Chorus is a dual stereo effects pedal with independent sets of speed and depth controls. The ‘Select’ button allows you to use or bypass the effect and the ‘On’ button allows you to choose between your two chorus settings. There is an LED to show the effect is on, and each chorus has its’ own LED indicator which flashes at the speed setting. An added feature with the Bass Chorus is found when switching from a slow chorus to a faster chorus, the effect speeds up slowly for that ‘phat’ vintage Leslie effect!
The Bass Chorus is the only choice for bass artists when you compare features….. Carl Martin quality, simplicity, flexibility and transparency.

Even though the BassDrive has been listed in the catalogue for years, Carl postponed the release of this pedal until we were able to tweak the EQ and crunch to where it could add a warm ‘tube’ sound to modern digital bass amps and actually improve their performance. The new Carl Martin Bass Drive now does exactly that….creating that famous John Entwhistle (The Who) tone … big, round and phat with just the right amount of sustain to place your bass properly in the mix and allow it to ‘pop’ in live and recording situations.  The Drive control blends evenly with your bass tones, rather than sitting on top like so many others, and very naturally maintains a full bottom-end.  Gain, Bass-Mid-Treble, Level Controls look after your sound, and the regulated and switch-able Power Supply (115-240V) provides the Bass Drive with tons of headroom….Carl, is smiling again!

You have eight effects pedals which you use regularly. You use various combinations of these pedals in various songs, but you are not good at tap dancing…or you are just clumsy and have (once or twice) stepped on the ultra tricked out-metalized-distortion pedal for the lead in your one ABBA cover. You have seen the digital effects controllers they use on the big stages, and have secretly yearned for one… even though you may never make the big stage. Enter Thomas Guldmann’s Octa-switch II. Your eight effects plug into the eight effects-loops on the back of this unit (all true-bypass, impedance free, gold relays so you can run any of your pedals, new and old without problem), and then by turning on or off the numbered switches in each of eight DIP Bank switches, you determine which effects you wish to use simultaneously in each Bank. There is a blue LED for every effects loop used and for each Bank (so once you are programmed, when you step on Bank 6 you will see the lights of all the effects you have assigned to Bank 6 and the Bank 6 LED). The Octa-switch II has incorporated a couple new features as well! The ninth switch on the left side of the case is a BYPASS Switch….this allows you to completely bypass all eight pedals and enjoy only the unaffected sound of your amplifier. There are also two External Switching jacks which allow you to use two amplifiers and/or switch channels on those amps. Once you have all the Banks programmed, we recommend placing a piece of scotch or electrical tape over each DIP (….just to protect the switch from accidental switching, damage or floods….like beer). There is a buffered (or not….switchable) Mono input and a stereo Output, and the unit is powered by dual 9v batteries, or by a regulated power supply…like the Big John or the Pro Power (both by Carl Martin).

The Carl Martin Rock Bug is an Amp/Speaker Simulator and Headphone rehearsal unit that operates on a single 9v battery. Although this type of accessory is not new, we believe there is nothing on the market that feels as real or sounds as realistic as the Rock Bug! You simply get the feeling that you are playing through a good tube amp. Just plug your guitar (with or without pedals) into the unbalanced ¼” input, plug your favourite headphones into the unbalanced ¼” output and off you go! Adjust your instruments’ volume with the Guitar knob, select an open cabinet or closed cabinet simulation with the mini-toggle switch, and wail away through the privacy of your headphones. If you like, use the AUX stereo inputs and add an MP3, CD or DAT player to the mix; adjust the Master volume for your music, blend in your guitar sounds with the Guitar volume, and either play along with your favourite cd’s or add a personal touch to your pre-recorded backing tracks. Utilizing the balanced XLR output, you can connect your Rock Bug to a mixing console for recording, solo gigs accompanying the pre-recorded music with your live guitar, or as a DI for live performance when you are packing light, or your amp goes down. You might not think an Amp-Speaker Simulator is new, but with all these features, the Rock Bug is the little Danish-Swiss Army Knife that belongs in the pocket of every guitar-players gig-bag!

Multiple effects, True-Bypass Switching and large stages (with long cable runs) are some of your tone’s greatest enemies….yes pedal-boards with all their advantages can become tone-thiefs!  Long cable runs and multiple pedals using True-Bypass switching, tend to ‘muddy’ our sound and reduce the higher frequencies that help define our sound.  Even wah pedals on their own can also be suspected of stealing certain frequencies from your tone.  By plugging your guitar into Buff de Luxe (1) and out to your pedals, then from your pedals back into Buff Deluxe (2) and out to your amp, you can protect your tone.  The results are stunning with your guitar coming back to life as if there was nothing between it and the amp.  There is also a Mute switch which directs your signal to the Tuner Out….this allows us to remove even the tuner from the signal chain and mute the guitar for silent tuning.

The Carl Martin Match Box solves the issues we face when using two instruments through the same amplifier. The Match Box is basically an A/B Switch with independent Gain controls for the instrument inputs.  Plug two instruments into the 1 & 2 Inputs, connect the Output to either your pedal board or directly into your amp and adjust the Gain controls on the Match Box so that both instruments provide the same Output Gain to the amp or pedalboard.  This eliminates having to reset Gain levels on the amp when switching guitars, and allows the player to move between instruments quickly and seamlessly during their performance.  The Match Box works equally well for guitar (electric and electric/acoustics) and bass.

As musicians, we sometimes have to supply ‘more’ gear, in order to adequately meet the demands of a show.  The Carl Martin Route Box helps simplify some of those situations. For instance, you might find yourself with two guitars, two amps and one pedal-board.  By plugging each guitar into each Instrument In, out to the pedal-board and then back from the pedal-board to the Input, and finally from Amp 1 & 2 Out to each of the amplifiers, you have full use of your pedal-board while using either Guitar 1 or 2 through Amp 1 or 2…..genius!

The Carl Martin Paraloop helps to bridge the gap between digital effects and analog signals.  When using digital multi-effects through amplifiers with only serial fx-loops, using the Paraloop will allow you to adjust the amount of digital fx signal or the amount of analog signal you prefer (with the Wet/Dry Control Knob), or with a Bypass switch to take the entire digital effects unit out of the loop.  Allowing a certain percentage of analog signal to remain under your digitally affected signal, creates a fuller, richer tone….just ask Carl!
